Thai Royal Palaces are often divided into two sections, the Outer and Inner Palace, for public ceremonial functions and exclusively for the Royal family respectively.

At Bang Pa summer palace the bridge over a pond divides the two sections. Decorative Greek statues outline the bridge (denoting Western influence in the layout of the palace) is evidently new.

An ancient Banyan tree stands mute testimony to the origins of the palace.
