A quick glance at Siddhesvara Dhaam , Solophok, 5 Km from Namchi cannot be dismissed as another tall statue in South Sikkim.
In an endeavor to create a religious and Hindu cultural hub at Namchi, Sidheshwar Complex has been positioned to recreate replicas of famous temples and Jyotirlingas across India in this complex. The main highlight is the over 100 ft Shiva statue in meditative pose towers over Solophok Hillock.
My driver gave me an askew glance, cynical at first as he explained that I must not rush through as people come from great distances to pray here. He also prophesied that in time to come this place would gain tremendous importance as other Hindu religious sites like Jaganath, Dwarka etc!! Little did he guess that I had to rush back to my usual roosting place, MG Road Mall, Gangtok.
